COMPLAINT FILED IN BIHAR COURT PROCLAIMING CHEATING BY BABA RAMDEV & ACHARYA BALKRISHNA

Social Activist named Tamanna Hashmi had filed a complaint against the owner of Patanjali. The government had asked to stop the advertisement of Ayurvedic medicines by Ramdev’s Patanjali Ayurved that allegedly cure coronavirus until the examination by Ayush Ministry and after the government’s order, the complaint has been filed in the court of Muzaffarpur which is situated in Bihar. The complaint has been filed under Section 270(Malignant act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life), Section 420(Cheating), and Section 504(Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) of the Indian Penal Code.

It was stated in the complaint that MD and CEO named Acharya Balkrishna and founder named Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev conspired to cheat the Union Ministry of AYUSH along with the whole nation through their false claims regarding the medicine. On 23^rd June 2020, ‘Coronil and Swasari’ had been launched by Patanjali Ayurved which claimed that the medicine will show “100% favorable results” in curing Coronavirus.

At the press conference, Yoga Guru Ramdev had said that “ We are launching COVID medicines Coronil and Swasari today. We conducted two trials of these, first clinical controlled study, which took place in Delhi, Ahmedabad, among many other cities. Under this 280 patients were included and 100% of those recovered. We were able to control Corona and its complications in this. After this all-important clinical trial was conducted.”

Later, it was clarified by the Ministry of AYUSH that details and facts which were claimed are not known to it yet. Additionally, the government had asked the company to submit the medicines for the examination and verification and also asked them to stop making such claims. After citing the Ministry’s press note, Hashmi had stated that the Government had no knowledge about the medicines and the entire nation had been betrayed by the company.

It was also alleged in the complaint that “The accused intentionally took such steps that may be a threat to the life/may prove fatal for lakhs of people.”
